Neuropsychological Evaluation in Washington for Adults

A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment of how your brain is functioning.

If you have ever wondered whether something is affecting your memory, attention, language, or ability to think and problem solve the way you used to, a neuropsychological evaluation can provide the clarity you are looking for.

It goes beyond a standard clinical interview or screening, using validated tools to build a detailed picture of your cognitive strengths and challenges across a range of areas, including memory, attention, processing speed, language, executive functioning, and emotional functioning. For adults living with or seeking answers about conditions such as dementia, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis, or stroke, a neuropsychological evaluation can be an essential step toward understanding what is happening and what to do about it. The result is not just a diagnosis, but a meaningful, personalized understanding of how your brain works and what that means for your daily life.

A neuropsychological evaluation may be right for you if you have concerns about:

Memory, attention, or concentration

Language or word-finding difficulties

Problem solving, planning, or organization

Changes in thinking or cognition following a neurological event or diagnosis

A possible neurodevelopmental condition such as ADHD or autism spectrum disorder

A known or suspected neurological condition such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementia, traumatic brain injury, or stroke

Here’s how our collaborative evaluation process works:

Clinical interview

We begin with a thorough conversation with the individual and, where appropriate, a family member or caregiver, to understand the history of concerns, current functioning, medical background, and what you are hoping to learn.

Comprehensive testing

Using evidence-based measures, we do comprehensive testing to build a complete picture.

Feedback & next steps

We walk you and your family through the findings in plain language, provide a comprehensive written report, and make sure everyone leaves with a clear understanding of what the results mean and what to do next. We collaborate closely with your existing care team to ensure the findings are integrated into a coordinated plan.

Our therapists specialize in supporting adults who are navigating the emotional and practical demands of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Understanding yourself more fully is a meaningful first step. But insight alone does not always make the hard things easier. Individual therapy at Balanced Minds offers a space to do the ongoing work of living well with what you know, supported by a clinician who understands the unique ways that brain health and emotional well-being intersect.

Issues include the grief, frustration, relief, and uncertainty that can accompany a new diagnosis or a long-awaited answer. We understand that adjusting to a diagnosis, whether it is dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder, is rarely a straightforward process, and that the emotional weight of living with a condition that affects how you think, feel, and function deserves as much attention as the condition itself.

Individual therapy may be a good fit if you are:

Adjusting to a neurological or neurodevelopmental diagnosis

Managing anxiety, depression, or emotional dysregulation

Navigating significant life transitions

Seeking support for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or a learning disability

A caregiver looking for support in managing the demands of caring for a loved one with a neurological condition

Simply feeling stuck and looking for a space to work through it

therapy approaches and modalities

Our therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to the individual.

We draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and other evidence-based approaches. We do not apply a single framework to every person. We take the time to understand who you are, what you are working through, and what kind of support will actually help.
